Unlike many of the "hybrid breeds" we're seeing today,
the Bengal is an established pure breed domestic cat.
This means that Bengals bred to Bengals will "breed
true", producing the appearance, personality, and
dependable nature for which their forebears were
selecively bred. There is no longer a need to maintain
Asian Leopard Cats, or "F-generation" cats within a
breeding program in order to produce the most beautiful
and best quality Bengals.  That being the case, it can
now be said that the Bengal breed "has arrived" as
a fully domestic purebred -- not a "hybrid" -- just the
most awesomely striking of all fully domestic cats.
About Bengals
VicsPuddyCats@aol.com
The Bengal is a fairly new breed of domestic cat,
created to resemble a small leopard. Our admiration
for the beauty of the wild cats with their stunning coats
and graceful movement has long inspired the idea of a
"living room leopard"  -- with the sweet personality and
small size of a house cat, and the incredible beauty of
"something from the jungle".  Today that idea has
come to fruition in the domestic Bengal Cat.
The origional crosses between the small wild cat known
as the Asian Leopard Cat and carefully selected domestics
gave breeders the origional "foundation cats" (commonly
referred to as "F-Cats; F-1, F-2, and F-3" generation,
respectively) from which this domestic breed is derived.
Choosing kittens that reflected the utmost in temperament
and companionability from their domestic side, and the
"wild look" from their non-domestic side was a labor of
love for the earliest breeders, and has resulted in Bengal
cats that are now many generations removed from the
origional wild ancestors, yet still appear to have "just
stepped out of the jungle".
As a domestic purebred cat, the Bengal is recognized
for registration with
The International Cat Association (TICA),
The Cat Fanciers Federation (CFF),
The American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA),
United Feline Organization (UFO),
The Canadian Cat Fancy, (CCF)
The Governing Council of Great Britain (GCGB),
and the European Cat Club (FiFE).  All Bengal cats  that are shown and receive Championship titles with these registries have a pedigree that reflects at least four generations of Bengal to Bengal,  non hybrid breeding.
We are proud to be a part of  this exciting venture,
and we are always happy to discuss,
exhibit and promote
The Bengal Cat.
